Impedance value of tv antenna cables?
People mention the impedance value of TV coax aerial cable and TV ribbon.
I think that the value for co-ax is 75 ohms and 100 ohms for ribbon.
My question is: - how are these values measured? It never mentions the length of the cable?
Is it somehow related to the resistance of the copper/the capacitor effect between the cores and the inductive effect of the frequency of the signal along the conductors?
No one that I have asked can explain this. Any ideas?
The value you actually referring to is the Characteristic impedance in ohms (Ω). It is determined from the capacitance per unit length (C) and the inductance per unit length (L). The resistance per unit length of the wires are neglected in the impedance calculation.
